A community dance project for the over 40 crowd

Mota Perpetua is Latin for perpetual motion. This dance class and optional performances are for the dancer and dancer-wanna-be’s who thrive on movement, music and self-expression.
In the weekly class, participants learn anatomically sound dance skills and have an opportunity to put them into practice through fun choreography. A new sequence is studied each the month, giving students 4-5 classes developing and learning to “own” the choreography. Those who wish to perform can take it to the next level where we will focus on musicality, phrasing and enhancing performance quality through regular rehearsals.
Required class: Thursday’s 11:00-12:15pm
Participation in class is required to perform.
Cost: $20/drop-in, 5 classes/$85, 10 classes/$160, 20/classes $295. Students have one year to use their pass.

Approximately six weeks before a performance rehearsal times will be added, time and day TBD. No charge for rehearsals.
Can I drop-in to try out the class?
Yes! Keep in mind that a new sequence is studied each month.
What if I am not sure about performing, can I still take class?
Yes! Performing is optional.
How many pieces will we perform?
1-2 choreographed works per event.
Are there additional costs?
Participants will supply their own dance/performance supplies: outfits and possibly knee pads.

Monday, 2:00 - 3:30pm. October 7 - April 27 (28 classes, no December 23, 30)
Class is of the workshop-deconstruction style variety and open to all who are curious about how to move in yoga with grace and dignity. 5 years of alignment based technical training is required, preferably in yoga. Ability to do head and shoulder stand is a good thing and of course, sense of humor is a must. Practitioners from all styles of yoga are welcome as principles of alignment and movement will be explored and adapted to all forms.

Yoga Anatomy & Kinesiology Lab
October 9 - April 29 (27 classes, no November 20, December 25, Jan 1)
Poses or regions of the body will be dissected, discussed and practice after analyzing influencer muscles and bones. Class requirements: bring your favorite anatomy book or Essential Anatomy app. Class may be joined at any time.

Yoga for Special Needs: Youth
with Alison Solam
Tuesdays, 4:30pm - 5:30pm in Taj 1
This ongoing weekly class is for people with developmental disabilities and focuses on gentle stretching and strength building through postures (asana), breathing (pranayama), and relaxation (savasana). This is a fun class where participants can enjoy a group yoga practice. All ability levels welcome. Drop-ins welcome, multi-class passes are also available.
