After 27 Years of Teaching Yoga, I Got A Job at The Mall, by Theresa Elliott

Telling this story has been surprising. The look of shock on friends and family’s faces, as well as fellow teacher’s, has been priceless. Invariably the look fades into peels of laughter as the contradiction of my long standing career as a yoga teacher clashes with the thought of me working in a department store. As the laughter subsides, the idea starts to seems obvious, but only because my friend Carola pointed it out in the first place. It certainly wasn’t before that day in early November.

I was born to sell. I was also born to be a lawyer, an accountant, a yoga teacher and a choreographer.  There’s nothing like having options, and I’m glad I was able to hear my dear friend as she showed me what I could not see.

This article was as fun to write as it was to tell in person. Thanks to Seattle Yoga News for helping me get this story “out there.” See link below to read the article hosted on SYN site.

Theresa – can you send me a copy of the article? I’m suspecting it’s a bit of a mid-life crisis and that’s always a te with lots of potential. I can read and ponder on one of our drives. We stared into the Grand Canyon today. Took a downhill hoke that required a serious uphill return

Hey Dick. You bet. I’ll send it to the email address I have for you. Good luck with the Grand Canyon. I suspect the Camino I did this last summer would have been a good prep for what you are doing now!

Taj Yoga is part of a thriving movement community located within the old Crown Hill Elementary School building. In a joyous "crossover," the yoga teacher is taking class down the hall with the Wassa Dance teacher, the ballet kids want to take yoga, and the custodian is studying Flamenco!.

GREG B.- "You are perhaps my favorite teacher of anything that I have learned. It's been an experience of and for a lifetime. Thank you."
